Islamabad (HRNW)- Pakistan collected a record Rs1,567.45 billion in petroleum levy during the fiscal year 2025-26, exceeding the government’s target by around Rs100 billion.
According to a private TV report, petroleum levy collection surpassed the government’s target of Rs1,468 billion as well as the IMF’s estimate of Rs1,546 billion.
In addition, Rs50.16 billion was separately collected in the national treasury as a climate support levy.
Petroleum levy collection increased by Rs347.24 billion compared with the previous fiscal year. The government collected Rs1,220.21 billion in FY2024-25, Rs1,019 billion in FY2023-24 and Rs580 billion in FY2022-23.
Under the current tax structure, a petroleum levy of Rs80 per litre is imposed on petrol and Rs77.28 per litre on high-speed diesel. A climate support levy of Rs5.5 per litre is also being collected on both petrol and diesel.
