Islamabad (HRNW)- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong on Pakistan’s Independence Day, with bilateral relations and the latest regional developments discussed.
According to the Foreign Office, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong met Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the Deputy Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Chinese mountaineer in an avalanche incident on Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Ishaq Dar assured the Chinese ambassador that Pakistan would provide all possible assistance in repatriating the deceased mountaineer’s body. Jiang Zedong appreciated the immediate assistance and cooperation provided by Pakistani authorities following the incident.
The two sides also discussed matters of mutual interest and recent developments in the region. The Chinese ambassador congratulated the Pakistani people and leadership on Independence Day and reaffirmed the close and longstanding relations between Pakistan and China.
Separately, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker met Ishaq Dar, with discussions focusing on Pakistan-US bilateral cooperation, regional developments, peace and stability.
Ishaq Dar welcomed positive developments in Pakistan-US relations and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in achieving lasting peace. He said implementation of the June 18 Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in accordance with its spirit and intent remains the way forward.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security while protecting its national interests. Natalie A. Baker appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability and extended Independence Day greetings to Ishaq Dar.
The separate meetings highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to maintain diplomatic engagement and strengthen cooperation with both China and the United States amid evolving regional developments.
