LAHORE (HRNW): The District and Sessions Court has issued a written order regarding the case involving the dissemination of a fake video of a provincial minister on social media, involving activist Falak Javed and others. In the latest ruling, Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo clarified that the trial court has not been restrained from further proceedings by any higher court order. The court emphasized that the legal process will continue according to the law unless a specific written stay order from the Sessions Court—where Uzma Bukhari’s appeal is pending—is presented by the complainant’s counsel.
During the hearing, the counsel for the complainant informed the court that an appeal had been filed against the February 10 decision regarding the summoning of Uzma Bukhari, which the Sessions Court has scheduled for February 26. However, the defense counsel argued that the Sessions Court has not issued any stay on the trial court’s activities. Highlighting the importance of judicial efficiency, the court remarked that the trial judge is not a silent spectator but a guardian of the legal process and must ensure the case moves forward. The hearing has been adjourned until March 10, with the court directing the prosecution to produce any documented restraining orders if they exist; otherwise, the trial will proceed as mandated by law.
