Karachi (HRNW)- Senior Supreme Court judge Justice Muneeb Akhtar has taken the oath of office as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The solemn oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court Registry in Karachi, where Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui administered the oath.
According to an official statement, the ceremony was attended by judges of the Federal Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, along with judicial dignitaries and other relevant officials.
It is pertinent to note that Justice Muneeb Akhtar will perform the duties of the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan during the absence of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, who is currently abroad. He will continue to discharge these responsibilities until the Chief Justice returns to the country.
According to the statement, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi will represent Pakistan at the International Legal Forum scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from June 24 to 26.
