Gilgit (HRNW)- A significant political breakthrough has been achieved between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding the formation of the government in Gilgit-Baltistan, with both parties agreeing to support each other in the regional assembly.
During a joint press conference in Gilgit, PML-N leader Hafeez-ur-Rehman announced that his party would vote in favor of the PPP candidate for the position of Leader of the House.
He further stated that the PML-N would also support the PPP candidate for the post of Speaker, while decisions regarding the offices of Deputy Speaker and Governor would be made in line with the federal power-sharing formula.
Both parties agreed to extend full cooperation to one another in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly in the interest of political stability, governance, and regional development.
PPP leaders thanked the PML-N for its support and described the agreement as an important step toward strengthening political harmony and stability in Gilgit-Baltistan.
They added that final decisions regarding government formation and other coalition-related matters would be made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The press conference was attended by PPP leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, and Amjad Advocate, while Hafeez-ur-Rehman and other parliamentary members represented the PML-N.
