Iran Says Lebanon Crisis and Frozen Assets Top Agenda in Switzerland Talks with US

Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has said that the ongoing tensions in Lebanon and alleged ceasefire violations by Israel will be the most important topics in the talks with the United States in Switzerland.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said in a statement to the official IRNA news agency that Iran has serious concerns about the ongoing situation between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon and that this issue will be given top priority during the talks.

He said that the Israeli government is continuously violating its commitments in Lebanon, which is why the issue will be a key focus of discussions between the two sides.

According to Esmail Baghai, in addition to the situation in Lebanon, the talks will also cover Iran’s frozen or restricted financial assets. Tehran is demanding the restoration of access to Iranian funds held abroad and the easing of related sanctions.

He added that the issue of issuing the necessary permits and licenses for the sale of Iranian oil is also on the agenda. Iran maintains that restrictions on its oil exports should be lifted to help support the country’s economy.

According to analysts, these talks are taking place at a time when diplomatic efforts are underway between the United States and Iran to implement a recent peace understanding. Both sides are hoping for progress on various issues aimed at reducing tensions and promoting regional stability.

Experts say that matters such as the situation in Lebanon, Iran’s frozen assets and oil exports could have significant political and economic implications not only for Iran but for the wider Middle East as well.

International observers are closely watching the meeting in Switzerland, where representatives of both countries are expected to discuss several key regional disputes and bilateral issues.
