Taftan (HRNW): A decision has been made to dispatch hundreds of LPG-loaded tankers that were stranded for several days in the border town of Taftan, Balochistan, under strict security arrangements.
According to officials, an initial batch of around 400 LPG tankers will be moved in convoys under the supervision of the Pakistan Army from Taftan to Quetta, and later to other parts of the country starting tomorrow.
Sources said the tankers had been stuck for days due to security concerns and law-and-order issues along the Quetta–Taftan (N-40) highway.
The administration has expedited clearance procedures and instructed transporters and drivers to ensure their vehicles and documents are complete to avoid delays in movement.
Officials further stated that the suspension of LPG supplies from Taftan has led to shortages and price pressures in several parts of the country, while the industrial sector has also been affected.
According to the Balochistan LPG Dealers Association, timely movement of these tankers is crucial to prevent a deeper gas supply crisis.
Authorities said all convoys will be provided enhanced security at sensitive points along the route, and additional convoys may be arranged if necessary to ensure safe transportation of all stranded tankers.
