PARIS (HRNW)- French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized Israel’s military strategy in Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank, saying that such policies are ultimately against Israel’s own long-term interests because they contribute to growing resentment and violence in the region.
According to media reports, Macron made the remarks during an interview with French broadcaster France 2, where he argued that lasting security cannot be achieved through the occupation or control of neighboring territories.
The French president said that the current policies being pursued in Gaza, the West Bank, and southern Lebanon risk deepening tensions and hostility among populations across the region, potentially undermining long-term stability and security.
Macron also stressed the importance of diplomatic and political solutions to regional conflicts, emphasizing that sustainable peace requires addressing the root causes of instability rather than relying solely on military measures.
Regarding Lebanon, Macron stated that France would work with international partners to mobilize support aimed at strengthening the Lebanese state and helping the Lebanese army re-establish effective control over its territory.
His remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions and continued international debate over the security, humanitarian, and political challenges facing the Middle East.
