Lahore (HRNW) – Political leaders and former federal ministers participating in a seminar titled “Governance, But What System?”, organized by the University of Lahore, expressed support for constitutional reforms, the creation of new provinces, and the establishment of an empowered local government system.
The seminar was addressed by MQM-Pakistan senior leader and former Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Fawad Chaudhry, Liaquat Baloch, Asad Umar, and Ahsan Bhoon.
Speaking at the event, Waseem Akhtar stated that the current system had effectively failed 25 years ago, emphasizing the need for fundamental reforms to improve governance in Pakistan.
The speakers presented a range of views, stressing the importance of effective governance, constitutional reforms, decentralization of powers, and strengthening local government institutions to improve public administration and service delivery.
