JERUSALEM / BEIRUT (HRNW)- Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has sparked controversy with his comments following the deaths of four Israeli soldiers during military operations in southern Lebanon.
According to media reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that four soldiers were killed during combat after their tank was struck near Kfar Tibnit in southern Lebanon. The military identified one of the deceased as Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gedalia Ben-Samhoun, 32, commander of the 52nd Battalion of the 401st Armored Brigade.
Following the incident, Ben-Gvir posted a statement on social media expressing a hardline stance regarding the conflict. His remarks drew attention amid ongoing hostilities and escalating tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.
The Israeli military also stated that it conducted overnight strikes in southern Lebanon, targeting what it described as Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure. Reports indicated multiple casualties resulting from the attacks.
The latest developments come amid continued clashes and heightened regional tensions, with international observers expressing concern over the risk of further escalation and its humanitarian consequences.
Efforts by various countries and international organizations to reduce tensions and encourage diplomatic solutions continue as violence persists in the region.
