Beijing (HRNW)- More than 115,000 people have been evacuated to safer locations after heavy rains triggered widespread flooding in several parts of China.
According to the Global Times, citing China Central Television and provincial authorities, a total of 49,925 households, comprising 115,756 people, were evacuated from areas threatened by the latest spell of severe weather.
Reports said that northern Shaanxi, western Guangzhou, and western parts of southern Shaanxi received light to moderate rainfall between Monday and Tuesday, while several other regions experienced heavy downpours.
The counties of Luonan, Tongguan, and Baihi were among the worst affected, with the highest recorded rainfall reaching 136.4 millimeters (5.3 inches) at Shipu Station in Luonan.
The heavy rainfall caused flooding in the Hanjiang, Weihe, Danjiang, and Yellow Rivers, while 28 rivers and 40 hydrological stations recorded a total of 47 flood events.
