Karachi Commissioner Orders Mandatory CCTV Installation in Schools and Places of Worship

Karachi (HRNW): The Commissioner of Karachi Division has issued important directives aimed at improving security in the city amid rising street crime and concerns over the safety of women and children.

According to details, acting on an application submitted by the “Anti-Street Crime Forum Karachi,” the Commissioner has instructed all Deputy Commissioners across Karachi to take urgent measures to strengthen security arrangements.

Under the directives, installation of CCTV cameras has been made mandatory in all educational institutions (public and private schools and colleges) as well as all places of worship.

The Commissioner stated that these cameras will be installed on a “self-help basis” to ensure an effective surveillance system across the city.

Authorities have further directed strict implementation of the orders, warning that institutions failing to comply will face legal action under municipal laws.

Civil society and public circles have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that it will help reduce street crime and improve the sense of security, especially among women and children.
