JERUSALEM (HRNW)- Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that residents who were displaced from areas designated as a security zone along the Lebanon border will not be permitted to return, according to media reports.
Katz said that the first belt of villages along the Lebanese border has been extensively damaged during military operations. He stated that many structures in the area have been destroyed as part of Israel’s security measures.
Commenting on proposals regarding regional security arrangements, Katz rejected suggestions that responsibility for dealing with Hezbollah should be transferred to Syria. He emphasized that Israel would continue to handle security matters related to Lebanon through its own military operations.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions and military activity along the Israel-Lebanon border, where clashes and airstrikes have continued in recent months.
The situation has raised concerns among humanitarian organizations and international observers regarding displaced civilians, regional stability, and the prospects for a long-term political solution.
Efforts by international actors to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation remain ongoing as the conflict continues to impact communities on both sides of the border.
