Washington (HRNW)- US Vice President JD Vance has confirmed that the United States has rejected Iran’s initial 10-point proposal and is now engaged in discussions with Iran and Pakistan on new proposals.
Speaking to the media, Vance criticized misinformation about the first proposal, stating that some elements in Iran are spreading it for propaganda purposes. He added that while Iranian Parliament Speaker Qalibaf presented a 15-point plan, there is agreement on most points, with differences remaining on only three.
Vance highlighted that Iran has agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz and participate in talks in Islamabad, though he cautioned that trust between the parties remains limited and serious consequences could arise if negotiations fail. He also clarified that while Iran may hope for Lebanon’s inclusion in the ceasefire, the United States has not made such a commitment.
The US Vice President noted that maritime traffic in Hormuz has increased and oil prices have decreased as a result of the ongoing ceasefire, adding that the Iranians now have to take the next step in good faith. He also mentioned that talks on easing sanctions may be possible, as the United States has significant leverage.
