Government Officially Launches “Motorcycle Petrol Subsidy Relief Package 2026” Providing Rs 100 per Litre Discount

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): The Government of Pakistan has formally announced the “Motorcycle Petrol Subsidy Relief Package 2026,” a strategic initiative designed to provide direct financial cushions to citizens amid rising global fuel costs. Under this program, eligible motorcyclists will receive a discount of up to Rs 100 per litre on petrol, translating to a monthly savings of Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 per household.

Eligibility Criteria for the Subsidy

To ensure the relief reaches the intended segments of society, the government has set specific requirements for applicants:

  • Income Threshold: The applicant’s monthly income must be below Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000.

  • Vehicle Ownership: The motorcycle must be registered in the applicant’s name with a verified number plate.

  • Biometric Synchronization: The applicant’s Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and mobile SIM card must be registered under the same name.

  • Monthly Limit: Each registered motorcyclist is entitled to a subsidized quota of 20 to 30 litres per month.

Registration Process and Digital Implementation

The government has introduced a streamlined digital process to facilitate rapid enrollment:

  • SMS Registration: Citizens can initiate their application by sending their CNIC number and vehicle details to the official short-code 9771 to receive a verification code.

  • Fuel Subsidy App 2026: A dedicated mobile application will be launched shortly, featuring a QR Code system. This will allow beneficiaries to claim their discounted fuel at over 12,000 designated petrol pumps across the country.

Public Advisory and Safety

The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant against potential scams and misinformation:

  • Official Channels Only: Use only authorized government websites and official SMS codes for registration. Do not share personal or banking information on unverified apps.

  • Help Desk: For complaints or further information, citizens can contact the official toll-free helpline at 0800-03000.

This targeted subsidy follows high-level consultations between federal and provincial authorities to stabilize the domestic economy while managing international energy market volatility.
