Tragedy in Nazimabad: 3 Dead, 6 Critical After Consuming Toxic Moonshine

KARACHI (HRNW): A tragic incident has unfolded in the Rizvia Society area of Nazimabad No. 1, where the consumption of toxic handmade liquor (katchi sharab) has claimed three lives and left six others in critical condition. The victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where three individuals succumbed to the effects of the poisonous brew during treatment. Hospital authorities have confirmed that the remaining six victims are currently fighting for their lives as medical staff provide emergency care.

Following the incident, local police launched a swift crackdown in the area, resulting in the arrest of a suspect identified as Adnan, son of Ihsan-ul-Haq. During the raid, law enforcement recovered 16 small and 3 large bottles of the hazardous toxic liquor from his possession. A formal case has been registered against the suspect, and an investigation is underway to track down other individuals involved in the production and distribution of this lethal substance. Preliminary reports suggest the liquor was locally manufactured using dangerous chemicals, a recurring issue that poses a grave threat to public safety in the city’s informal settlements.
