Peshawar (HRNW) — Unknown armed men opened fire on a police team within the jurisdiction of Budhni Police Station, killing an Afghan national, Salman, who was in police custody in connection with allegations of desecrating graves and sexually abusing the bodies of deceased minor children.
According to police, the attackers fled the scene after the shooting, while an investigation into the incident has been launched.
Police said the suspect had been arrested a day earlier after he was allegedly caught attempting to desecrate a grave at the Sheikhan cemetery. Local residents reportedly apprehended him and handed him over to police.
According to police, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to desecrating 10 graves. Further investigation is underway, while efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the attackers.
