Islamabad Authorities Propose New Fixed Electricity Charges for 100–500 Units

Islamabad (HRNW)- Important developments have emerged regarding fixed electricity charges for consumers using 100 to 500 units per month. During a hearing on the federal government’s proposed new tariff, Power Division officials briefed that current tariffs are misaligned and cross-subsidies among consumers need reduction.

PPMC officials stated there are no plans to establish a thermal power station in the next 10 years but suggested setting fixed charges based on monthly electricity consumption. Proposed charges include:

  • Protected consumers: Rs 200 for 100 units, Rs 300 for 200 units

  • Non-protected consumers: Rs 275 for 100 units, Rs 300 for 200 units, Rs 350 for up to 300 units, Rs 400 for 301–400 units, and Rs 500 for 401–500 units

Charges for higher consumption levels have also been adjusted, with Rs 675 proposed for monthly use of 600–700 units and more than 700 units.
