Peshawar (HRNW)- The High Court has issued a written order to hear a petition against sharing university videos on social media.
The Peshawar High Court has issued a written order for the previous hearing of the petition of Deputy Commissioner Swabai against sharing university videos on social media, in which it has been said that government officers cannot use social media accounts without legal authority.
The court said in the order that the issue of running social media accounts of government officers was raised in the petition. According to the Director PMRU, officers cannot upload videos related to someone’s private life because uploading videos related to someone’s private life is not in the public interest.
The court further said that according to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Service Rule 34A, no officer can use social media. If the use of social media is necessary for official matters, permission must be taken from the Administrative Secretary. However, the Misconduct Rules will apply to using social media for official matters.
The order also directs the provincial government and relevant parties to prepare SOPs on the use of social media by government employees and the government to prepare a report and submit it to the court within a month.
