Qila Abdullah (HRNW) — Two women were killed and a father and his daughter were injured when armed men allegedly opened fire on a vehicle carrying people from Karachi in the Sigi area of Qila Abdullah, Balochistan.
According to police, the incident occurred while the Karachi-based individuals were visiting Gulistan Tehsil in connection with business matters. Their vehicle came under fire in the Sigi area, resulting in the deaths of two women at the scene.
Sources said the injured father and daughter were shifted to the Quetta Trauma Centre in critical condition, while the bodies of the deceased women were taken to Abdul Rehman Zai Hospital.
Police said the affected individuals had arrived in Gulistan two days earlier for business purposes. Initial reports suggest that the vehicle was allegedly targeted after the occupants did not stop when signalled to do so by members of a tribal group.
Sources said the Sigi area is considered highly dangerous for civilian movement due to ongoing tribal rivalries, while police access to the area is also reportedly difficult.
Police sources said that no case had been registered so far and no arrests had been made in connection with the attack.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
