Karachi (HRNW) — Retailers across Karachi are openly violating the official price list issued by the Commissioner Karachi Office, selling essential commodities to citizens at arbitrary and inflated prices.
According to residents from various areas of the city, the current market rates are as follows:
- Potatoes: Rs. 40 per kg instead of the official Rs. 23
- Onions: Rs. 50–55 per kg instead of Rs. 40
- Sugar: Rs. 160 per kg instead of Rs. 141
- Public Wheat Flour: Rs. 121 per kg instead of Rs. 107
Citizens complained that the Commissioner’s price list and his representatives are nowhere to be seen in the markets, making it impossible to control the surge in prices.
Residents have expressed serious concern over the situation and urged authorities to take immediate notice and strict action against violators.
