Karachi (HRNW)- Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed that all upgraded schools across the province be made fully operational by April 2, 2027, with teachers, furniture and other essential educational facilities in place.
Chairing a meeting of the School Education Department, the chief minister reviewed arrangements for providing teachers, students and necessary facilities at upgraded schools. He directed officials to ensure that schools scheduled for completion by March 2027 are fully prepared for students by April 2.
Murad Ali Shah stressed that the objective of the projects was not limited to constructing school buildings but also included increasing enrollment and ensuring access to quality education. He ordered a province-wide enrollment campaign aimed at bringing out-of-school and dropout children back into the education system, with particular attention to girls’ education.
Officials informed the meeting that 1,133 schools are covered under the Sindh Secondary Education Improvement Project (SSEIP) and the SELECT Programme. Of these, 838 schools are part of SSEIP, while 295 schools are covered under SELECT.
During a nine-day pilot enrollment campaign from September 21 to 30 at five newly upgraded secondary schools in Thatta, 702 students were enrolled in grades 6 to 10, including 409 girls. Another 102 out-of-school and dropout children were re-enrolled.
The chief minister welcomed the results of the pilot campaign and directed authorities to implement the model across the province.
The Sindh government has previously highlighted school-upgradation and reconstruction projects under SSEIP and SELECT as part of efforts to expand access to secondary education and improve school infrastructure.
