KP Emergency Working Completed, Final Decision to Follow Consultations: Tariq Fazal

Islamabad (HRNW)- Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that the groundwork for a possible imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has been completed, but a final decision will be taken after consultations on the matter.

Speaking to a private television channel, Chaudhry said the postponement of the PTI long march should not be linked to the emergency issue, maintaining that the two matters were separate. The PTI has scheduled its planned march for October 4, 2026, after postponing it from September 27.

The federal minister said the possibility of declaring an emergency was being considered in view of the security and terrorism situation in KP. He said the federal government expected the KP government to cooperate with the Centre and law-enforcement agencies in measures aimed at combating terrorism.

Chaudhry said the government was seriously examining all aspects of the proposal and that consultations would take place before any final decision was made.

The issue has emerged amid heightened political tensions between the federal government and the PTI-led KP administration. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has previously said the party would use all available constitutional and political options if the federal government imposed an emergency or Governor’s Rule in the province.
