Jamaat-e-Islami Accepts APC Invitation, Opposes Emergency and Governor’s Rule in KP

Islamabad (HRNW)- Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has accepted an invitation from the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan (TTAP) to participate in an All Parties Conference (APC), while JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said his party would oppose the imposition of Governor’s Rule or a state of emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The announcement followed a meeting in Islamabad between JI and opposition leaders, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Asad Qaiser and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar. JI was represented by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Liaquat Baloch and other senior leaders. The participants discussed the country’s political situation, security concerns, economic challenges and the proposed APC.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said JI would support efforts to develop a national consensus on peace and security, the economy and the political process. He opposed any move to impose emergency rule, Governor’s Rule or suspend the Constitution in KP, and called for substantive negotiations between the government and opposition.

Barrister Gohar said the opposition would enter talks with the government without preconditions and that its position regarding the planned October 4 long march would depend on the government’s conduct. He also rejected emergency measures or Governor’s Rule as a solution to the political dispute.

The developments come as the federal government and PTI negotiating committees have begun talks in Islamabad amid heightened political tensions over the planned march. The government has linked consideration of emergency measures in KP to the province’s security situation, while opposition parties have called for political dialogue.

The JI leadership also called for addressing concerns over the treatment and legal cases involving PTI leaders and urged implementation of court decisions. The party said it would continue efforts to support the political process and seek consensus on major national issues.
