Chinese Firms Seek Licenses to Export Donkey Meat from Pakistan via Gwadar; Govt Ensures Strict Regulations

Islamabad (HRNW)- Two Chinese companies have applied for licenses to export donkey meat from Pakistan. According to sources, both Chinese companies have applied for slaughterhouse and export licenses.

Officials of the Ministry of Food Security say that a full investigation is underway on the license application of the Chinese company, after the regulations are completed, donkey meat and bones can be exported to China. Officials say that donkey meat and bones will be exported to China from Balochistan through Gwadar, and Pakistan will earn a lot of foreign exchange from donkey meat and bones.

Officials of the Ministry of Food Security say that it has been made clear to the Chinese company that the meat will not be produced anywhere other than Gwadar, there is a fear that donkey meat will not be supplied to the local market. According to officials, donkey meat was also being produced illegally in Islamabad, and a foreigner was working illegally without a license in Islamabad.
