Lahore (HRNW)- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has appointed Ali Mustafa Dar, the eldest son of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, as her Adviser on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives — a role carrying the status and powers of a provincial cabinet minister.

The appointment, effective immediately, establishes a new portfolio and department focused on advancing artificial intelligence (AI), technology adoption, and innovation-driven projects across Punjab. In this role, Ali Dar will work on developing policies and initiatives to modernize governance, improve public service delivery, and create jobs through the use of emerging technologies.

Ali Dar has an academic background in software engineering, having studied at University College London (UCL) and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), and has spent more than two decades working internationally in technology and business before returning to Pakistan.

He is married to Asma Nawaz Sharif, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and sister of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, marking his entry into formal political responsibilities.
