Karachi (HRNW): A resolution calling for a complete ban on alcohol in the Sindh Assembly was rejected after debate in the House. The resolution was presented by MQM Member of the Provincial Assembly Anil Kumar; however, it was opposed by the provincial government.
Speaking during the session, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar stated that imposing a total ban on alcohol would affect various segments of society, and therefore the government could not support the proposal. He added that multiple legal, social, and administrative aspects of the issue also needed to be taken into consideration.
Following a detailed discussion on the resolution, the Assembly rejected it by a majority vote.
