MQM Leader Zahid Malik Accuses PPP of Double Standards on New Provinces Issue

Karachi (HRNW)- MQM central leader Zahid Malik has accused the PPP of adopting a double-dealing policy on the issue of establishment of new provinces.

Zahid Malik said that the PPP had supported the establishment of new provinces in 2012, when they supported the revival of Bahawalpur province and a unanimous resolution in the Punjab Assembly for the South Punjab province. However, now the PPP is adopting a double standard with regard to Sindh and Karachi.

He raised the question of why the PPP is opposing the establishment of new provinces on administrative grounds despite claiming to be serious about public issues. Zahid Malik said that taking a U-turn on new provinces after 13 years can only be called political hypocrisy of the PPP, and why is what is good for Punjab being declared bad for Sindh and Karachi.

Zahid Malik further said that the PPP has been in power in Sindh for 17 years and the PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 13 years, but the performance of both parties is zero and they are blaming the federation for their incompetence.

These statements have come as a strong criticism of the PPP’s recent stance by the MQM.
