Karachi (HRNW) — A Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Assistant Director has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after luring her with the promise of a job, police said.
A case has been registered at Surjani Town Police Station under FIR No. 792/26, with Sections 376 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code included in the case.
According to police, the main accused, Anwar, was serving as an Assistant Director in KMC’s Anti-Encroachment Department. He allegedly picked up the woman in his vehicle on August 4, telling her that she was being taken for a job interview.
The FIR states that the woman was allegedly taken to an isolated area of Surjani Town, where three men allegedly subjected her to severe physical violence at gunpoint before sexually assaulting her.
Police said the accused allegedly abandoned the woman in an exhausted condition near 4K Chowrangi and fled the scene.
Surjani Town police have arrested the nominated main accused, while raids are continuing at different locations to apprehend the other suspects who remain at large.
