Islamabad (HRNW)- Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has warned that the recent incident on Rawalpindi’s Mall Road could be an indication of similar unrest on September 27, saying the government will not allow Pakistan to become a victim of political instability.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Talal Chaudhry said the government would take strict action against anyone involved in violence or attacks. He alleged that the May 9 events were fueled by hatred and chaos and accused PTI founder Imran Khan of promoting such rhetoric through his statements and speeches.
The Minister of State also criticized social media activity that he said mocked Pakistan’s martyrs and urged PTI leaders to refrain from what he described as politics based on hatred and disorder.
Talal Chaudhry rejected claims that PTI leadership had no connection with the individual involved in the Mall Road incident, alleging that the person had stayed at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House and had met party leadership. He said an independent and transparent investigation into the incident was underway and that its findings would be made public.
The incident occurred on August 11, 2026, when an armed man allegedly opened fire on a security forces patrol team on Rawalpindi Mall Road at around 11:15 a.m., injuring a security official.
Security personnel returned fire and killed the attacker at the scene. Authorities identified him as Muhammad Hussain, son of Muhammad Baaz. Officials later alleged that Hussain was affiliated with PTI and that photographs of him with senior PTI leaders had surfaced.
PTI has disassociated itself from the incident, describing the attack as an individual act by the person involved.
