Washington (HRNW)- US Department of Defense documents reportedly show that 153 civilians were killed and 243 injured in US airstrikes and military operations in Yemen last year, according to a US media report.
Citing Pentagon documents, the report said civilians were affected during several US military operations in Yemen, with the majority of reported civilian deaths occurring during three operations in April 2025.
According to the documents, five civilians were killed in a US airstrike in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, on April 6, 2025.
On April 17, a US operation targeting the Ras Issa port reportedly killed 80 civilians, representing the highest number of civilian deaths among the three operations.
Another US attack near Saada on April 28 reportedly resulted in the deaths of 47 civilians.
The report said Pentagon officials are also reviewing 15 additional operations related to US military activity in Yemen, although final decisions and details regarding those cases have not been disclosed.
The reported figures come amid continuing international debate over US military operations in Yemen and their impact on civilians. Washington has said its military actions are aimed at protecting commercial shipping in the Red Sea and other strategic waterways from attacks by the Houthi group.
However, the reported civilian casualties have raised renewed questions about the conduct of US military operations, targeting procedures and measures taken to protect civilians.
