Islamabad (HRNW) — The President of Pakistan has approved the appointment of 10 new Additional Judges of the Lahore High Court for a period of one year.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on August 11, 2026, the appointments have been made under Article 197 read with Article 175A(8) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The newly appointed Additional Judges of the Lahore High Court are:
- Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Nihung — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan Zahid — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Amir Ajam Malik — Advocate Supreme Court
- Ms. Shireen Imran — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Asad Ali Bajwa — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Khalid Ibn-i-Aziz — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Munawar Iqbal Duggal — Advocate Supreme Court
- Syed Farhad Ali Shah — Advocate Supreme Court
- Mr. Muhammad Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema — Advocate Supreme Court
The notification states that the appointments will take effect from the date the newly appointed judges take oath of their offices and will remain valid for one year.
Copies of the notification have been forwarded to the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, Lahore High Court, Attorney General’s Office and the Government of Punjab, among other relevant authorities.
One-Year Appointment
The appointment of the 10 Additional Judges is expected to strengthen the judicial capacity of the Lahore High Court and assist in dealing with the court’s workload and pending cases.
