Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh government has taken an important step to improve the quality of investigations and challans in criminal cases by establishing a special sub-committee for the scrutiny of challans. The Sindh Law Department has issued a formal notification in this regard.
According to the notification, the committee will be headed by DIG Crime and Investigation Sindh Aamir Farooqui, while the 10-member body includes senior officials from various law enforcement and prosecution agencies.
Committee members include DIG West Irfan Baloch, AIG Legal Ali Sher Jakhrani, Director Legal Anti-Corruption Muhammad Ashraf Soomro, the DG Narcotics Wing, representatives of the Excise Department, and senior prosecution officers.
According to the government notification, the committee will develop comprehensive procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the pre-trial scrutiny of criminal case challans to ensure that cases presented before courts are stronger and more effective.
The committee has also been tasked with identifying legal and administrative hurdles in criminal cases, proposing solutions, and submitting recommendations to the government.
Officials say the initiative aims to make the investigation process, challan preparation, and prosecution system more efficient, helping to reduce unnecessary delays and technical shortcomings in the disposal of criminal cases.
