Court Rejects Bail for Suspect in Soldier Bazaar Building Collapse Case

KARACHI (HRNW): An Additional Sessions Judge (East) has rejected the bail application of a suspect, Irshad, in a case involving a building collapse caused by a gas leakage explosion in the Soldier Bazaar area, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people.

The court delivered its verdict after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense. The police informed the court that the suspect had allegedly installed an illegal gas line, which led to a massive explosion and the subsequent collapse of the building’s roof. Officials emphasized that the suspect’s gross negligence and disregard for safety protocols directly resulted in the loss of 15 innocent lives, including women and children.

Earlier, a Judicial Magistrate had sent the accused to jail on judicial remand. The Soldier Bazaar Police registered the case against Irshad, citing unauthorized gas connections and involuntary manslaughter. Following the dismissal of the bail plea, the suspect will remain in custody as the trial proceeds.
