Legal Expert Condemns Restrictions on Imran Khan’s Meetings as “Constitutional Violation”

KARACHI (HRNW): Senior lawyer Hussain Ali Chauhan has expressed grave concerns over the ongoing restrictions preventing former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan from meeting his family and legal counsel. Describing the situation as a blatant violation of the Constitution and fundamental human rights, Chauhan asserted that denying a prisoner access to legal and personal support is both illegal and inhumane.

The legal expert emphasized that the court has issued clear orders regarding visitation rights, and obstructing these meetings constitutes “Contempt of Court.” He alleged that the former Prime Minister is being kept in deliberate isolation to exert psychological pressure, labeling the move as a form of political victimization. “Every prisoner possesses the constitutional right to consult their legal advisors and see their family; stripping away this right under any circumstances is unacceptable,” Chauhan stated.

Calling upon the government to immediately restore these visitation rights, the lawyer warned that continued non-compliance with judicial orders could lead to serious legal consequences and spark widespread public protest. He concluded by reminding the authorities that upholding the rule of law and respecting court mandates is a primary constitutional obligation, and any negligence in this regard could result in irreparable damage to the justice system.
