Pakistan Will Not Hesitate to Strike Back if Attacks Persist from Afghan Soil, Says Defense Minister

Islamabad (HRNW) – Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that if terrorism against Pakistan continues from Afghan soil, Pakistan will not hesitate to launch new airstrikes.

In a recent interview with a foreign news agency, Khawaja Asif, while discussing the security situation, said that the terrorist attacks in Pakistan are actually part of an organized proxy war, behind which the Taliban government in Kabul and India are involved.

The Defense Minister made it clear that until Kabul gives a solid guarantee of peace, Pakistan will not shy away from any possible step to defend itself. He said that Pakistan will not compromise on its security.

Khawaja Asif said that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan is supported by the Taliban government in Afghanistan in its extremist activities, and last year, clashes broke out between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban due to these same operations.

He said that the ceasefire between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban government was possible due to the efforts of Qatar and Turkey, however, New Delhi and Kabul appear to be on the same page when it comes to attacks on Pakistan.

The Defense Minister also said in the interview that in the context of tensions in the region, the possibility of war between Pakistan and India still exists, which cannot be ignored.
