Specialists Denied Access for Imran Khan’s Eye Examination, Sources Reveal

Islamabad (HRNW)- An important development has come to light regarding the eye examination of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, however, the recommended specialists could not get permission for the examination.

According to sources, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Asim Yousaf had suggested the names of three retina specialists, but none of them were allowed for the examination. Dr. Asim Yousaf had provided these names to Salman Akram Raja.

The recommended specialists included Dr. Aamir Awan of Al-Shifa International Hospital, Major General (retd) Mazhar Ishaq and Major General Waqar Mazhar, head of the Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology.

Sources say that instead of these specialists, Dr. Nadeem Qureshi of Al-Shifa International was sent for the examination, accompanied by Dr. Arif of PIMS Hospital. It has been reported that Shaukat Khanum’s Dr. Asim Yousaf and Dr. Khurram Mirza were not allowed to go to Adiala Jail, so Al-Shifa’s doctor was sent.

According to sources, the PTI founder was given the first injection on January 25, while the second injection is scheduled for February 25. It has not yet been decided whether the second injection will be given in jail or he will be transferred to the hospital.
