Karachi (HRNW) – The Constitutional Bench of the Sindh High Court has dismissed petitions seeking the recovery of eight missing persons from different areas due to non-prosecution by the applicants.
During the hearing of petitions related to the recovery of ten missing persons, the court expressed concern over cases where applications were filed but were not actively pursued by the petitioners.
The court dismissed the petition regarding the recovery of missing citizen Sikandar from the Ittehad Town area for non-prosecution.
Similarly, the court dismissed petitions concerning four missing persons from the Sachal area. The missing citizens included Shahnawaz, Ibrahim Ali, Nehmdad Ali, and Yousuf Ali.
The court also dismissed the petition regarding missing citizen Shams from the Korangi Industrial Area due to lack of follow-up.
During proceedings, the court observed that petitions for the recovery of citizens were being filed but were not being properly pursued afterward. The petitions had reportedly been filed in early 2026.
Meanwhile, the court sought progress reports regarding missing citizen Kamal Khan from the Manghopir area.
The court also directed authorities to submit a progress report within four weeks regarding the recovery of missing citizen Muhammad Yousuf from Surjani Town.
Cases involving missing persons remain a significant human rights and legal concern, with courts regularly seeking updates from relevant authorities regarding investigations and recovery efforts.
