Police–Protester Clashes Erupt as Jamaat-e-Islami Rally Attempts Sit-In Outside Sindh Assembly

Karachi (HRNW) – Workers of Jamaat-e-Islami attempted to stage a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly, prompting police action that later led to clashes between protesters and law-enforcement personnel.

Police had earlier blocked roads around the Sindh Assembly by placing barriers. However, in the evening, when Jamaat-e-Islami workers arrived in the form of a rally, confrontations broke out near Court Road. As tensions escalated, protesters moved forward with the main truck, after which police conducted a baton charge and shelling near Khazra Mosque.

Police officials seized the party’s main truck and arrested several workers, shifting them to the police station. Authorities stated that a number of police personnel were also injured during stone-pelting and violence. Meanwhile, Muneem Zafar alleged that the police acted on political orders but said the party would continue its struggle.
