Karachi (HRNW) – Sindh’s Senior Provincial Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sharjeel Inam Memon has claimed that workers of Jamaat-e-Islami attempted to enter the Sindh Assembly during protests outside the premises.
According to his statement issued after clashes and a police crackdown near the Assembly, Jamaat-e-Islami had been informed that entry into the red zone was prohibited. Despite this, he alleged that some workers entered the restricted area and resorted to stone pelting.
Sharjeel Memon said that Sindh Police and the local administration remained in contact with party leadership and had urged them to stage a peaceful protest without entering the red zone. He further questioned Muneem Zafar, asking who he was to take the law into his own hands.
