New York (HRNW)- Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Prince Rahim Aga Khan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, discussing ways to strengthen Pakistan’s longstanding relationship with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister warmly welcomed Prince Rahim Aga Khan and recalled their meeting earlier this year during the Prince’s visit to Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Prince Rahim Aga Khan’s continued commitment to maintaining strong and friendly relations with Pakistan and reiterated the government’s resolve to strengthen cooperation in support of peace, stability, and development.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the longstanding contributions of the Ismaili community to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly its tradition of public service, civic engagement, and community welfare.
He praised the work of institutions affiliated with the Aga Khan Development Network in areas including financial inclusion, tourism, preservation of cultural heritage, and promotion of economic self-reliance through local communities.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the potential for expanding cooperation in these sectors to support sustainable and inclusive development across Pakistan.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan thanked the Prime Minister for his warm sentiments and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts toward regional peace and stability amid ongoing conflicts in the region.
He reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the AKDN and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in healthcare, education, climate resilience, and sustainable socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister also invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan to visit Pakistan regularly, with the aim of further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and the AKDN.
