Turkish Petroleum Company to Begin Offshore Drilling in Pakistan’s Waters, Major Foreign Investment Expected

Islamabad (HRNW) — Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that a Turkish petroleum company is preparing to begin offshore drilling in Pakistan’s maritime waters, with significant foreign investment expected as a result.

The federal minister said that new avenues of cooperation are opening between Pakistan and Türkiye, while investment by the Turkish company in Pakistan’s energy sector could prove to be an important development for the country’s economy.

Ali Pervaiz Malik said the recent agreements and growing cooperation between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia could further strengthen economic and strategic ties among the three countries.

He noted that Saudi Arabia’s economic strength, Türkiye’s development and Pakistan’s defence capabilities could play an important role in expanding cooperation among the three nations.

According to the minister, new investment opportunities are emerging in Pakistan’s energy sector. If offshore drilling leads to the discovery of new oil and gas reserves, it could have positive implications for Pakistan’s economy, energy security and foreign investment.

The minister said international cooperation and investment in the energy sector could also help Pakistan meet its growing energy requirements and reduce reliance on imported fuel.
