Lahore (HRNW) — Lahore’s Metro Bus service could face suspension from August 11, 2026, after private operator VEDA Transit Solutions reportedly warned that the service may be halted if the fuel funding issue is not resolved.
According to reports, VEDA has informed the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) that continued operations have become difficult due to the non-availability of funds for fuel and related financial issues.
The company has reportedly called for immediate resolution of the funding issue to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies and continuation of the Metro Bus service.
If the service is suspended from August 11, thousands of daily commuters who rely on the Lahore Metro Bus system could face significant transportation difficulties.
Punjab’s Transport Department has reportedly indicated that efforts are underway to resolve the dispute through legal and arbitration mechanisms.
The situation has raised concerns over the continuity of public transport services in Lahore and the financial arrangements between the provincial government and the private operator.
