Washington (HRNW)- A video from Chinese President Xi Jinping’s arrival ceremony in the United States has gone viral after US President Donald Trump was seen visibly wincing as two US Air Force B-1 Lancer bombers flew overhead, while Xi appeared largely unfazed by the noise. The ceremony took place at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on September 23.
Trump and Xi were standing together on the tarmac as the bombers conducted the ceremonial flyover. Footage shows Trump briefly closing his eyes and reacting to the aircraft noise, while Xi maintained a composed expression.
The flyover was part of an elaborate reception for Xi, which also included American and Chinese flags, military personnel, both countries’ national anthems, and a 21-gun salute. Six F-16 and six F-22 fighter jets also participated in the aerial display.
The brief moment quickly attracted attention on social media, with users sharing and commenting on the contrasting reactions of the two leaders. Reports describing the video have focused on what is visibly shown in the footage rather than establishing any particular reason for Trump’s reaction.
Xi’s three-day visit to the United States includes meetings with Trump on major bilateral and international issues, including trade, technology, Taiwan, and regional security.
