PAC Sub-Committee Raises Questions Over Illegal Investment of Quaid-e-Azam University Funds

Islamabad (HRNW)- Serious questions were raised during a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) sub-committee regarding the alleged illegal investment and misuse of funds of Quaid-e-Azam University.

The meeting, chaired by Shahida Akhtar Ali, reviewed audit objections of the Higher Education Commission for the years 2010-11 and 2013-14. It also examined issues related to land purchased for engineering universities, which audit officials claimed was not utilized and is now being used for a residential project by the CDA.

The absence of CDA officials in the meeting drew strong criticism from the committee. Senator Bilal Mandokhel suggested issuing notices and even moving a privilege motion if necessary.

Audit authorities informed the committee that funds allocated to Quaid-e-Azam University between 2002 and 2008 for various projects were instead used for investment purposes. University officials responded that the funds remain in assignment accounts, but committee members emphasized that any profits from illegal investments would also be considered unlawful.

The committee directed that all audit objections be thoroughly verified and resolved transparently to ensure accountability and prevent misuse of public funds.
