Islamabad (HRNW)- A high-level review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif focused on promoting investment in the housing sector, ensuring the provision of low-cost housing, and increasing employment opportunities.
The Prime Minister emphasized that every citizen has the right to own a home, stating that providing easy-term loans remains a top government priority. He directed authorities to remove barriers hindering investment in the construction and housing sector.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of safeguarding investments of foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis, noting that growth in the construction sector would significantly boost the economy and generate millions of jobs.
Officials briefed the meeting on proposals by task forces and working groups, including plans for legal reforms, low-cost housing loans, and incentives for investors. It was also shared that banks will soon be given targets, while work continues on developing a comprehensive mortgage financing system and developer-led financing model.
The Prime Minister directed that a practical and inclusive strategy be finalized with participation from the public and private sectors, as well as provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, to accelerate housing sector development.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers, the attorney general, the State Bank governor, provincial representatives, private sector experts, and senior officials.
