Berlin (HRNW)- Germany has refused to recognize the Afghan diplomatic representative appointed by the Taliban regime, dealing a significant blow to Afghanistan amid increasing international isolation.
According to Afghan media reports, including Kabul Now and Afghanistan International, the German government has made it clear that it does not recognize the Taliban government as the legitimate authority of Afghanistan.
The German Foreign Ministry stated that it will not accept any new appointments or legal changes at the Afghan embassy in Berlin and will continue official contact with the chargé d’affaires appointed by the former Afghan government.
A spokesperson emphasized that under diplomatic norms, approval of the host country is essential for accepting any diplomatic representative, which was not obtained in this case.
Experts believe that Germany’s decision reflects growing global distrust of the Taliban regime, whose policies have led to both internal instability and international reputational damage for Afghanistan.
They warn that continued isolation could push Afghanistan further into economic crisis and global marginalization, exacerbated by the regime’s hardline approach.
