KARACHI (HRNW): A major scandal involving alleged collusion between local administration and builders has surfaced in Jamshed Town, where illegal construction is reportedly continuing unabated. According to investigative sources, a Ground-plus-Three (G+3) structure is being erected on Plot No. JR-5, Jamshed Road No. 1, without any approved maps or legal permits.
Sources claim that this illegal activity is being carried out under the alleged patronage of high-ranking officials, including the Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director (AD), and the Building Inspector of the area. It is alleged that these officials are misusing their positions to overlook the violations, causing a potential loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer in terms of unpaid fees and regulatory fines.
Local residents have expressed grave concerns, stating that despite multiple complaints lodged with the relevant authorities, no effective action has been taken to halt the work. Citizens argue that such unauthorized constructions not only deplete government revenue but also severely damage the city’s master plan and strain the already crumbling urban infrastructure.
The civil society and residents of Jamshed Town have demanded an immediate high-level inquiry into the matter. They have called upon the provincial government and the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to take strict legal action against the responsible officials and immediately stop the illegal construction at Plot JR-5 to uphold the rule of law.
