Sweden Announces $1.4 Billion Military Aid Package for Ukraine

Stockholm (HRNW)- Sweden has announced a major military aid package worth around $1.4 billion for Ukraine. The bulk of the military aid package will be spent on air defense, long-range capabilities and ammunition. The Swedish government says the largest part of the package is the purchase of a newly developed short-range air defense system worth 4.3 billion kronor.

The system will include cannon and missile systems, interceptors, sensors, electronic warfare components and command and control systems to protect large areas from air threats.

According to the statement, 3 billion kronor has been allocated for ammunition, training and related support, including the purchase of large quantities of shells and air defense rounds.

In addition, 5.6 billion kronor will be allocated for long-range capabilities, innovative measures, economic cooperation and civil defense.

This includes expanding cooperation with Ukraine on long-range drones and financing projects related to unmanned surface boats.

Sweden will also provide some equipment from its armed forces, including recoilless rifles, related equipment and ammunition, while funding will also be provided for alternative purchases and transportation.
