Kolkata (HRNW) – A tenth-grade student tragically ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room while her parents were away, according to local Indian media. Only her sister and grandmother were present at home during the incident.
The parents returned in the evening and found their daughter unresponsive. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead. Authorities report that she had been depressed after her math paper was reportedly damaged and had stopped eating and drinking for two days.
Police are investigating the case from all angles, though initial findings suggest suicide. Education and mental health experts warn that exam-related anxiety can severely impact students’ mental health. They advise parents and teachers to closely monitor children’s emotional well-being and provide encouragement, even in cases of low marks or academic setbacks.
